There has been significant discussion in various journals regarding a concept titled ‘‘G2i,’’ which is an abbreviation for ‘‘General to Individual.’’ The concept is concerned with how courts utilize scientific information, which is generally about populations, and how it can be translated into information so it is useful in the courtroom. The difficulty with this translation is that even though scientific studies are done within a so-called general framework, the court demands that testimony focus on the individual. Although most of the G2i literature focuses on fields such as epidemiology, toxicology, and medicine, as described in this article the issue of G2i applies to the forensic economist as well.
