Estimating the Impact of Mid-Career Retraining
Christopher Bruce and Derek Aldridge. 2018. Estimating the Impact of Mid-Career Retraining. Journal of Legal Economics 24(1-2): pp. 37–41.
This paper summarizes the recent empirical economics literature concerning the impact of retraining on an individual’s earnings. Specifically, we ask whether a plaintiff who retrains will start his or her new occupation at an entry-level wage (say, at the earnings of a 25-yearold) or at the wage of workers of the plaintiff’s calendar age. The articles summarized here suggest that retrained workers will begin at the entry level.
