This short paper discusses four related events: W. Kip Viscusi’s appearance and presentations at the NAFE Symposium on Hedonic Damages at the Allied Social Sciences meetings in Atlanta, Georgia in late December 1989; Viscusi’s deposition transcript regarding pain and suffering damages in the seemingly obscure case of Huncovsky v. The Gates Rubber Company on July 24, 1990; memoranda regarding the NAFE Symposium issued by Stan V. Smith and Michael L. Brookshire with dates of January 6, 1991 and May 6, 1992, respectively; and the relevance of the first three of these events in litigation involving hedonic damages. The discussion begins with Viscusi’s deposition in the Huncovsky matter.
