This paper analyzes the 8th edition of the Ogden Tables. The Tables are routinely used in the three jurisdictions of the U.K.
(England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) for the purpose of determining economic loss in cases where a lawsuit for personal injury or wrongful death has been brought to the court. The paper then provides a comparative analysis of the Ogden Tables with the methodology used in the United States for the valuation of loss of future earnings. In the final section of the paper, there is a discussion of whether the U.S. might adopt certain features of the methodology utilized in the Tables.
